J. REED RADZISZEWSKI - PROFILE

I apprenticed under Master Shipwright, Hugh W. Campbell, at Winard Wood Ltd. and spent over 17 years working on a huge variety of boats. I have built and repaired all manner of parts, structures and systems on small to medium size wooden boats and yachts. In addition to small wooden boats and yachts, I have done interior and exterior wood work on yachts up to 205 feet and performed repairs on Canadian vessels in Panama and Grand Cayman. I have also completed a number of contracts with the Department of National Defence, where I worked on Navy frigates and the HMCS Victoria submarine. Additionally, I teach new Marine Service Technician apprentices marine woodwork at Quadrant Marine Institute. My business focus is on yacht interior and exterior woodwork and structural wood repairs on wooden and FRP boats. I do take on "special" projects from time to time. Any interior refit design is developed by myself with VectorWorks.

With any refit there are many peripheral tasks and I am not limited to just woodwork. I look after many of these as well. Removal and replacement of many systems and structures as needed. Davits, windows (mineral and organic glass), hatches, tanks, hardware and fittings of all kinds. Past projects range from decorative teak decking repairs or replacement on large luxury yachts, to re-caulking traditional wood planked hulls after repairing frames and replacing planking. Interior design, refit and repairs on either a yacht in the tropics or a submarine. Insured and WCB covered, I work primarily on southern Vancouver Island from Sidney to Victoria BC. I operate a completely "mobile" shipwright shop (that usually stays in one location). It can be moved anywhere needed for a larger refit and is self contained and self powered. Out of town work history includes Maple Bay, Shelter Island, Cowichan Bay, False Creek and Vancouver's North Shore.
